Niger State Governor, Dr. Babangida Aliyu on Wednesday admonished the defeated All Progressives Congress candidate in the recently held Niger East senatorial by-election, Barr. David Umoru, to return to the Peoples Democratic Party if he was desirous of realizing his political dreams.
"David Umoru should return to PDP; that is where he started, that is
where his success lies", he said.
Gov. Aliyu spoke when he received a delegation of the
PDP from Niger East Senatorial district and the
presentation of the senator-elect for the zone, Dr Shem
Zagbayi, at the Government House, Minna.
He recalled that Umoru, who lost the governorship
elections twice in 2007 and 2011, would be in a position to
serve the people of the state better if he teamed up with
the PDP, boasting that the party would always win
elections in Niger State.
Speaking on the senatorial by-election, the governor
admitted that it was a tough contest, stressing that PDP
would continue to meet the yearnings and aspirations of
the people through the delivery of dividends of
democracy to all wards and local governments in the
state.
According to Gov. Aliyu, "Some did it for selfish reasons;
some as a revenge most importantly; some out of greed;
some did not pay party agents the required fees.
"I urge you all to go back to all our polling units, to go
back to all our wards to explain and relate to our people;
we need to reinvigorate our party. There is no village
where we have not done something; we must relate well
with our people.
"There must always be a symbiotic relationship between
elected and appointed members of the party. Without
the party we (elected representatives) cannot be where
we are to today".
