Maku, worst minister ever produced by Nasarawa —Al-Makura

NASARAWA State governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, on Saturday, came hard on the immediate past Minister of Information and gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in 2015 election, Mr Labaran Maku, describing him as the worst representation the state ever had in the Federal Executive Council (FEC) since the creation of the state.

The governor, who also challenged Maku to publish his achievements during his tenure in national dailies, made this known in a press statement authorised by his Special Assistant on Media and Public Affairs, Alhaji Ahmed Tukur, a copy of which was made available to Sunday Tribune in Lafia, the state capital.

Apparently reacting to Maku's allegation during his press conference in Abuja, on Friday, that the state government, under the leadership of Governor Al-Makura, promoted communal crises in the last four years, the governor said it was so unfortunate that such statement was coming from people of his calibre.

He lamented that, apart from the fact that the former minister instigated former President Goodluck Jonathan against the whole North, and Nasarawa State in particular, his tenure as Minister of Defence witnessed proliferation of arms in the state.

According to him, "instead of seeking ways of developing his state and the country at large, he started fighting the immediate past Senate President, Senator David Mark. He was warned by the senate on two occasions for his utterances. The worst representation Nasarawa ever had in Federal Executive Council (FEC).

"Maku was behind the stoppage of dredging of river Niger on Lokoja axis. He politicised religion across the country. No parastatals (NTA, NAN, PRECIOUS FM and others) in the state under his ministry enjoyed anything," he added.
