Two Oshiomhole Aides Defect To PDP

Two senior aides to the Edo State governor, Adams
Oshiomhole – Osama Erediawa and Gaskin Eke – on
Thursday announced their defection to the Peoples
Democratic Party, PDP.

Before their defection, Mr. Erediawa was the Executive Director,
Office of the Governor, while Mr. Eke was the Senior
Special Assistant to the Governor on Inter-Party
Relations.

Mr. Erediawa told journalists in Benin that he chose the
PDP to ensure that the party would win the presidential
election in 2015 and the governorship election in the
state in 2016.

He said that he was not forced or induced by any
individual to join the PDP, adding that he voluntarily
resigned from the All Progressives Congress, APC, and
the Oshiomhole-led government.

Mr. Eke said that he resigned because he opposed some
actions of the government.

The PDP Chairman in Edo Chief, Dan Orbih, and other
leaders of the party, received the defectors and
presented them with the party's membership cards.

Mr. Orbih called on the people of the state to cooperate
with the party to defend democracy.
Commenting on the sitting of APC legislators at the
Government House on Wednesday, Mr. Orbih said it was
a calculated attempt to erode the principle of separation
of power. He said the legislators had no business sitting
in the government house.
