Sore Losers? APC Accuses PDP Of Deploying High-Tech Rigging In Ekiti Poll

The South-West caucus of the All Progressives Congress, APC, held a meeting during the week in Ibadan, Oyo State, with a view to taking
steps on how to move the party forward, in light of the
party's poor showing in the Ekiti State governorship
election, where the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,
emerged victorious.

The meeting, which was attended by the National-Vice Chairman of
the APC, Pius Akinyelure, and Deputy National Chairman
(South), Segun Oni, x-rayed the events surrounding the
Ekiti election and concluded that the poll was far from
being free and fair.

In a communiqué issued after the meeting, the APC
alleged that high-tech rigging that was never before
seen in the country, was adopted by PDP to win the said
election.

The communiqué read, "Ekiti State was under the
military siege one week before and during the election.
This was aptly demonstrated by the restriction of
movements of people and the prevention of APC
governors from entering the state for the final rally of the
party billed for June 19, 2014.

"As a matter of fact, the military, police, civil defence
personnel and armaments deployed in Ekiti State should
have been deployed in the North-East, which would have
marked the end of the Boko Haram insurgency and the
return of the abducted Chibok schoolgirls".
