Liverpool Completes Emre Can Signing

Liverpool have landed Germany's under-21
international midfielder Emre Can from Bayer
Leverkusen for a reported £10m transfer fee.

Both club had agreed a deal for the 20-year-old last month, but waited until the opening of the summer transfer window to
finalise 'the player's contract. "Emre is an exciting young talent and I'm delighted he' chosen Liverpool," coach Brendan Rogers said.

The former Bayern Munich playmaker becomes the
'Reds's' third signing of the summer, following the
arrival of Southampton duo Rickie Lambert and Adam
Lallana.

Can scored three goals in 29 Bundesliga appearances.
He featured in Leverkusen's 5-0 mauling at home to
Manchester United in last season's Champions League-
one of seven games appearances made by the young
midfielder in Europe.

"We have tracked his progress for some time and I have
been impressed with his attitude and qualities when I
have seen him play both in the German Bundesliga and
the Champions League," Rodgers added.
"He has many of the attributes we look for; charisma on
the football pitch and courage to want the ball and make
things happen."

Liverpool will return to Europe's elite competition next
season after finishing second behind champions
Manchester City last term.
