20year Old Becomes Youngest MP Since the 17th Century

First I like to break this news by saying never say never – After all, for the first time in Nigeria’s history, an incumbent president was hoisted out of office, so anything is possible – Then let me kindly announce to you, that a 20year old girl has emerged as Member of Parliament in the recently held general elections in the UK… the youngest since 1667…

Mhairi Black, has become the youngest MP since the 17th century after beating her two powerful opponents, Mr Alexander’s Paisley and Renfrewshire South seat by almost 6000 votes.

The 20 year old, who is still a university undergraduate got more votes than Labour, the Conservatives, LibDems and the Scottish Socialist Party combined.

Although, Ms Black is now MP, she still has one exam to finish at the University of Glasgow, and will return to university at the end of the month, to finish her politics degree.

Ms Black has defeated a Labour heavyweight after taking Paisley and Renfrewshire South from Douglas Alexander, who was first elected in 1997 when she was a mere toddler.
