Bojan's Season Ends With Cruciate Ligament Damage

Stoke City forward Bojan Krkic has been sidelined for the rest of the season with serious knee damage.

The 24-year-old suffered the injury during Monday’s 4-1 win at Rochdale in an FA Cup fourth-round tie, after scoring the opener (his first goal in the competition).

The Spaniard will now undergo surgery as scans have revealed he ruptured cruciate ligament in his left knee.

Manager Mark Hughes told the club’s official site: “It’s bitterly disappointing for the club but even more so for Bojan himself as he was making such a big impact on the Premier League and clearly enjoying his football. We wish him a speedy recovery.”

Bojan, who joined the Potters from Barcelona in the summer, has scored five goals in 18 appearances this season. Five of those goals came in his last 12 matches as he has struck a reach vein of form lately.

His match-winner in the 1-0 win at Leicester City this month left Stoke in tenth position in the table.
