Kano Govt Plans Big For Sanusi’s Coronation As Emir

Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of Kano State is leaving no stone unturned for the coronation of the new Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, which is expected to take place after this year's Hajj exercise.

It was learnt that the event, which was earlier slated for last Saturday, was postponed due to construction works at the venue of the event.

A new hall is being built for the coronation of Emir Sanusi.

An aide to the governor on Emirate Affairs, Alhaji Tijjani Mailafia Sanka, said the initial date was changed to enable the state government organise an event that would befit the status of the emir.

"The last time Kano people witnessed the coronation of an emir was 51 years ago, so the state government is planning big for this event", he said.

Sanka, who said a new date would be announced by the organising committee, added that the ceremony would attract dignitaries from across the world.

"The event would showcase the rich culture of the people of Kano. The event is not only for us, the people of Kano, North or Nigeria, but a global ceremony that would depict our cultural endowment", he said.

Recall that Sanusi, a former CBN Governor, ascended the throne in June in rather controversial circumstances, following the death of the former Emir, Alhaji Ado Bayero, who reigned for over 50 years.
